Welcome to my website.
How did you get here?!? What dark corners of the internet have you came from to find this cool little spot? Are you wondering what will happen? So am I…
Let me introduce myself, I’m Anthony…or AK to most of the people I know…I live in Philadelphia and I make art, mostly using linoleum or wood to make prints. I put them up around town, I sell them, i let them just sit in drawers for years sometimes…etc, etc, etc.
Now I would like to introduce thee WEBSITE…
OBSCUREPATHSALIENSEQUENCES? Huh?!? I thought it was catchy at first…it still sounds mysterious and fun when I say it, so it has stuck…but, what are obscure paths or alien sequences? It can be a dusty, overgrown trail that leads to somewhere thats fun and dangerous at the same time. When I used to do wild things and strange, magical potions with the unsavory crowd I used to align myself with, more often then not we would end up somewhere that would strike me with an unease. Rundown places that were overgrown and rusty, but somehow still retained a beauty that was only amplified by said magical potions. Those were thee obscure paths…they always lead to something mystifying that not many others got to witness… Alien sequences is simply reorganizing things in a way that they weren’t intended or following a gut feeling in a creative process as opposed to doing something in the standard way.
Full disclosure, the name was lifted from a review of a cassette released in 1986. The two track release titled “Amazonia 6891” by Walter Maioli, Fred Gales, and Pit Piccinelli. This piece of music is a hallucination, a drone-filled voyage into a fictional jungle that seems to be inhabited by a mix of birds, both organic and robotic, writhing creatures, and distorted flutes…that’s at least how I would describe it. The quote in question, the one that I got the name from, was,”The merger between the wild jungle, the mysterious voices of the Indians and oscillation of the electronis waves created a spasmodic tension between amazing and heavenly moments that leaked also obscure paths and alien sequences.”
That’s the story, come back soon and see where we go…
